My husband, Gabe, and I have tried out many eco-friendly products, a lot of which ended up being pretty nasty, having worse packaging designs than we thought, or simply not doing their job. This is not one of them. We finally found a pomade for him to use every day that looks beautiful on our counter, smells amazing, and actually works. I have even used it as a curl-definer to help tame my frizzy strands.
Whiskey Ink & Lace has used a rich, brown, glass jar with a metal lid and a paper label, all of which are recyclable. The monochromatic design is simple yet informative, giving full instructions and ingredients on the back. Besides the packaging being thoughtful and striking, the product itself has been crafted to fulfill its purpose well. The Portland based company uses only sustainably sourced, natural ingredients that are kind to the environment and beneficial to our bodies. While applying, the texture is as smooth as butter (Shea butter, to be specific) and smells subtly like a fine bourbon. Gabe has been enjoying it in the "firm hold" strength and says that it "holds well, while still being pliable and easy to work with."
