After my wonderful deodorant from Hintascent ran out (after over a year!!) I wanted to try a different brand. One with even simpler and more industrial artwork to fit my aesthetic and the feeling of my home. I know that might seem fussy, but when you don't buy décor and you strive to make the things you use your decorations, it is important.
I looked long and hard for one with a beautiful package design that also worked just as well as my last one. I finally found this one by Stonegrass Farms Soap Company that had old world packaging as well as outstanding reviews. Stonegrass Farms makes their deodorant cream in a variety of enticing scents like Clove Sandalwood, Jasmine Lemongrass and Cedarwood Vanilla. I chose to get the unscented version because I wanted to make sure that it actually prevented odor instead of masking it and I like that you can get a deodorant that won't conflict with your personal scent if you choose to wear one. Here's the scoop on my experience with this company and product:
How it arrived
The product arrived in the mail within a couple days of purchasing and came in a recyclable box with recycled comics for protection. I love that they are using eco-friendly shipping supplies in addition to recyclable jars!
How to Apply
There is no applicator and the consistency is of shea butter and solidified coconut oil so you just scoop out a pea-sized amount with your finger and rub underneath your arms like lotion or a salve.
How it Feels
When on, it feels like a commercial deodorant and actually makes me feel dry with the moisture-absorbing ingredients.
How it Smells
This "unscented" version has no added fragrances or essential oils and when it is on you can't smell a thing! Neither good or bad. Just what I was looking for! The company says that it has worked for many hard-working farmers as well. If you smell the product in the jar, it smells lightly of coconut (from the coconut oil) and chocolate (from the shea butter used)... not a terrible combination!
In addition to using recyclable packaging and shipping supplies for their products, I love how Stonegrass Farms also uses organic and locally-sourced ingredients as much as possible. This means that no chemicals were used in the production of this product and there were fewer gasses released into the air during the shipping of ingredients to the maker. I am loving this product and enjoy using it and looking at it everyday!
UPDATE: This deodorant hasn't been good for people who shave their armpits every week as it tends to irritate the exposed pores. If you don't shave on a regular basis, you should be fine!
