Honestly, I never thought I would be publicly talking about what kind of deodorant I use. It's just something that seems a little bit like too much information; but after searching for so long for a deodorant that works well and that has a simple and sustainable design, I know someone else will appreciate it. After trying many different deodorants, I finally found this one by Hintascent that I absolutely love.
What I Love About the Design
First of all, receiving my handmade deodorant in a tiny, re-usable muslin bag, felt like receiving a gift from a friend. It was well-packaged to insure that there was no damage to the product as well.
Inside the muslin bag, is this beautifully and simply designed tube. Even though Hintascent uses an intricate embellishment on the outside, the design remains simple with a limited color palette and selection of fonts.
I also love the little details on the tube like the "H" sticker seal that lets you know it hasn't been opened or tampered with and the scalloped sticker on the top of the tube. The simple push-up tube design is easy to use and it is entirely compostable and recyclable.
What I Love About the Product
This deodorant is completely natural and good for your body with no toxins or chemicals. It also works really well unlike a lot of natural deodorants I've tried! It is not an antiperspirant but helps you "sweat less and smell better" as they say in their description.
The specific one that I tried was their Hintacocoshea in the "Powder Me Fresh" Fragrance, which has the clean scent of baby powder. I love that they have a variety of essential oil scents to choose from and even offer to let you request a custom scent. Unlike other natural deodorants that I've tried, this one actually makes me feel pretty dry and not sticky.
WHAT COULD BE BETTER
In the future, I would love to see Hintascent come out with an even simpler design that is more gender neutral, as this one has a lot of frills and even I tend to prefer more masculine designs.
There is really not a whole lot that could make this product better. One thing that takes a little getting used to is the density of this deodorant. It is a little harder than commercial brands and so if you try to swipe it on like usual, it is not too comfy. I recommend lightly brushing or dabbing it on as it doesn't take as much pressure to get a sufficient amount on.
Let me know in a comment or an email if you have found a simple and sustainable deodorant that you love!
Updates: Hintascent has now made their deodorant softer so that it applies even more easily. They have also come out with a new scent that is a little more gender neutral called "Warm Ironwood" with a bolder design. Excited to try it out!
